This lake is also used occasionally as the landing area for the seaplanes by the nearby hotels.
There are several islands in the Koggala Lake, some of them are inhabited. On two of these islands, monasteries were built.
The most famous island is the Madol Duwa, which features in the Martin Wickramasingha’s novel by the same name. You will meet many students visiting this place on school trip or individually.
One of the islands is called the Cinnamon Island. You can observe the process of producing cinnamon in a simple way, taste the cinnamon tea and get acquainted with other products.
On the Cinnamon Island, you can also experience the fish massage.
On the Cinnamon Island, you can find boat keepers, offering rides on the lake for approximately 45 minutes.
The other places to board the boat are Kathaluwa, Koggala or Duwa.
